Measurements are the crucial part of any recipe, whether you are cooking a known dish, or trying out a new recipe. Whether you follow Imperial measurement system (oz, pound, cup, etc.) or Metric measurement system (gram, ml, etc.), below are some useful cheat sheets for common conversions, that can come handy in your kitchen. All conversions show approximate figures, which have been rounded up or down.

 

Common Measurement Equivalents

1 pinch / dash = 1/16 teaspoon
1 jigger = 3 tablespoons
1 cup = 16 tablespoons
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
1 cup = 8 fl oz
1 tablespoon = ½ fl oz
5 fl oz = ¼ pint
1 pint = 2 cups
1 quart = 2 pints
1 litre = 1 quart + ¼ cup
1 gallon = 4 quarts
